2019 Big 'M' Recipient
Time to do it again, folks! We’re busy gearing up for the 10th Annual Big ‘M’ Memorial Benefit, and we are pleased to announce that we have selected this year's Big 'M' recipient!
Butch Porter, a longtime Valley resident and local musician, was recently diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer. Butch is currently in Houston, Texas where he will be undergoing an extended and intensive treatment program at the MD Anderson Cancer Center. As insurance does not even begin to cover the exorbitant costs associated with cancer treatment, we hope to raise money to assist the Porter family in whatever way we can.
Bri Porter, Butch’s daughter, says of her father: “My dad is a man of his word; he is loyal, hardworking, loving, talented, and would give a stranger the shirt off his back. He is a fighter, because he has SO much to fight for. Along with many more, his grandchildren look up to him and count on him to be here for many years to come".
The Benefit is scheduled for Saturday, August 17th at the Mug-Shot Saloon. While we are still in the early planning stages for this year's event, we encourage anyone interested in being involved to contact us. We are seeking local businesses and vendors who may be interested in selling goods/services during the event, as well as local bands and solo act musicians to join the line-up of volunteer entertainers. Additionally, we are looking for volunteers and donated auction items, and your suggestions regarding the event are always welcome. If you'd like to be involved in any capacity, or for more information, please email us at , or message us on Facebook.
